We are excited to announce that Brennon Blodgett will be coaching the race club program this season. |
The club will be instructed by
Brennon Blodgett, and will be overseen by
Emily Richardson,
Director of Sailing Instruction. The club will meet a couple of times weekly in the evenings throughout the summer. They will focus exclusively on race instruction and race practice. Participants will practice and race on 420s and occasionally Sunfish. They will join the CYC club GO fleet racing on Wednesday nights from late June through the end of August. This will enable them to race against each other and some of the more experienced adult and youth sailors at CYC. The program will be an excellent opportunity to learn what sailboat racing is all about, have some fun times, and get to know other sailors.
There will also be opportunities for participants to sail in annual CYC races, regattas, and interclubs.
Practices will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30pm to 6:30 pm. Race nights will be on Wednesday evenings from 5 pm to sunset.
End times for Wednesday's GO Fleet racing are approximate. The first start each Wednesday is scheduled to go off at 6:00, and races are run until sunset is closed or the weather is not cooperating. Therefore, races end earlier towards the end of the season as the days become shorter. In inclement weather, practices and race nights may be shortened or canceled at the instructor's discretion. Significant cancellations will be prorated accordingly.
