Sunday Start Sequence

PM Racing Score Sheet

Sunday Racing

CYC offers short course racing each Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon, with separate starts for Flying Dutchmen, J/24, Ensign, Shark Catamaran, mixed Board Boats (Laser, Sunfish, etc.) as well as starts for a mixed fleet of small cruising yachts whose scores are adjusted using the PHRF handicap system.

GO (Genoa Only) Racing Series

CYC holds a series of Genoa only (NO Spinnaker) races on Wednesday evenings. This series is designed to involve those sailors for whom the Sunday races are more intense than they care for. The goal is for everyone to have fun and to attract sailors from all the existing fleets and those with designs not now raced at CYC, such as Catalina 22's Day Sailors, etc. A wide variety of classes and weekly awards based on PHRF scoring will make things fun for all.      more....

Handicap Races

Mixed Fleet handicap racing is offered on Holiday Weekends (usually Monday), and some Saturdays (see calendar). These races are open to anyone interested, whether or not they are CYC members. Our format features separate awards for fleets consisting of Slower Cruisers, Faster Cruisers, Centerboard Boats, and Catamarans. An entry fee of $5.00 per entry is accessed to help defray the cost of refreshments served at the Clubhouse following the racing. Registration is held on the waterfront starting at 11:45 am, with the Skippers' Meeting at 12:15 pm, Harbor Gun at 12:30, first start at 1:00pm. The one exception is the Around-the Lake Race, which features an 8:15 skipppers' meeting and 9:00am start.

Junior Racing

Beginning Sunday, June 2, the Club will provide a separate short course at 2:00pm for any sailor to compete in Sunfish without the fear of being run over by the larger craft.

Thursday Evening Sunfish Racing

On Thursday evenings from mid-June until late September, racing in Sunfish and Lasers is offered. You need not own one of these craft, as the Sunfish used in the sailing lesson program are available. All skill levels are welcome. A great way to hone your skills. People start to gather at the waterfront about 5:15pm, with the first start a little after 6:00.
